I was thinking, wouldn't the testing part be a lot more effective if we made it a contest?

Discuss rules, prizes, etc in this topic! :)

The first rule would be 'No invincibility glitches', and the second 'We should be able to reproduce it'?

rule #1: No invincibility glitches

rule #2: We should be able to reproduce the glitch

rule #3: (Linked to rule 2?) No fake bug reports.

Prize: Mention in our credits as 'Chief Playtester' (Anyone else who tests is just "Playtester")

Also, we could have a logo like TUD and maybe video trailer

(If video trailer then)

Rule #1: No longer than 1 minute long

Rule #2: All footage must be from tOLP

Prize: Honorable mention in the credits as "Trailer maker"

(And if logo...)

Rule #1: Must contain "The Open Level" or "Dimension Open"

Prize: Honorable mention in the credits as "Logo designer"

Also the testers should be clear about the bugs, so not things like

"There's a spelling mistake in a script in the second green room (I thought it had no name?) somewhere in the first part of the level"

or

"There's a wall glitch somewhere near a trinket in the second half of the level"

So people need to be specific. Area, room name, and if possible coordinates. (EDIT: As long as we can find it without too much hassle)

(VVVVVV really needs a debug mode which can display current room coordinates when you press certain keys while playing any level, which can be enabled/disabled in the level)

A possibility is to insert the room coordinate for all rooms as roomname under the testing stage.

I did this myself in my own level very early in development when I asked a friend to test it for me, and it surely helped.

Something that can help people reporting bugs the right way is this template, used often when reporting software bugs:

Description: -

How to reproduce: -

What happens: -

What should happen: -

That's a good idea! However, some room names may already be too long for it, but we could always use roomtext.

We could use:

Description:

Room coordinates of the room(s) it happens in:

How to reproduce:

What happens:

What should happen:

But some people could just ignore that and make an unclear list with just the room names, and as another bug report that we forgot to take out room coordinates...
